Springsteen preps new digital EP

Brace yourselves Boss fans. A new release from the Bruce Springsteen & his E Street Band will be in your hands on July 15.

But before you get all riled up, this probably isn’t be the release you were expecting. Nope, it won’t be that "other album in the bag" or even the long-awaited electric version of Nebraska. In fact, the four-song EP will feature tracks we’ve all come to learn and love.

So what’s the big deal, you ask? Well aside from benefiting the Danny Federici Melanoma Fund, the Magic Tour Highlights EP consists of four tracks capturing some of the more memorable moments from the still ongoing Magic tour.

Four songs from Bruce and the E Street Band’s spring 2008 U.S. leg have been selected, each highlighting a special guest — if you count Danny Federici’s re-emergence for his only 2008 appearance, what turned out to be his final performance in Indianapolis. A "guest spot" or not, it was an emotional high point of the tour that’s captured here, along with three other unique performance highs.

Unfortunately, Conor Oberst’s rather noteworthy guest appearance on "Thunder Road" back in March was not included…

The EP will be available as a download from all digital downloads stores begining July 15. The tracks will be accompanied by live videos of the original performance.
